Secret files on UFO sightings have been made available for the first time by the Ministry of Defence.
The documents, which can be downloaded from the National Archives website, cover the period from 1978 to 1987.
They include accounts of strange lights in the sky and unexplained objects being spotted by the public, armed forces and police officers.

Shooting across the stars

Have you been blinded
by an optical illusion?
Has your wishful thinking
created a delusion?
Or are they really there,
waiting up above?
Worrying so about us,
filled with selfless love?
Are there really saucers
with aliens within?
Can they take you up
for a starry spin?
Or is there another cause
for this phenomenon?
Something very natural,
or even just a con?
If anybody knows
please let us have the proof
