HALFWAY

I wake up on a bouncy cloud.

'What? Where am I?' I ask aloud.

And looking down to my surprise,
I clearly see with x-ray eyes,
me! - lying quietly in my bed,
and next to me stands Uncle Fred.

He’s reading from my favourite book,
of Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
He pauses every now and then,
and sighs, and starts to read again.

Then Mummy comes and takes my hand
and talks to me of Neverland.
I smell her perfume, sweet aroma.
‘Oh! Michael, come out of this coma.’

’What’s a coma?' I ask my friend,
He flaps his wings. ‘It’s time to send
you home again. You have to be
back in your room, in time for tea.’

He smiles and waves as I float down.
‘Remember me to Charlie Brown.’
