Goodness and Mercy

Goodness and Mercy
Two words that envelope my heart
Each one following the other
One is the twilight of love
That lingers amongst the still waters

The other was lost in the following….

“Others just want to ignore it and place their
faces in sand, calling themselves keepers of peace.”

“You need to take the word “ouch”
Out of touch”…William Spencer

There within the sandy paraphrase
your touch besmirches
all that followed your windings

Oh keepers of peace

Mercy resides in my heart, and reminds me
That I am not the judge, nor the jury
My face has been in sand before
Each granule has its own purpose
Each one has a reason for existing
Should I kill the beach?
Should I deny the day?
Should I ignore the lily pads?

Would you search my soul,
for bitterness that you perceive?
You have left your windows open and
Now you’ve flown away.
For what purpose?
A flamboyant response with
words on a monitor screen?
Is that what scared you?

You left, but you didn’t take the
winds of change- just a shadow,
of where you once placed your heart,
And left your hurried footprints in sand

Footprints that will be smoothed by
the raging water of life
Absorbing your last words of goodbye

Forgotten words; that even you can’t remember
They will drift back into the yawning
And restless sea
You were here for the grand opening
And now you’re gone-
a simplicity of thought, yet your
leaving will always be remembered

Oh keepers of peace

There will be many speed bumps
In your circle of grind

A gentle reminder to slow down and live
in the now and don’t look back.

There are stragglers with dangerous weapons.

For Ms Myrnie’s challenge:'simplicity of thought'
