' TO DANCE '

There was a time
When I thought of dance
As a silly thing
Not an expression of love or romance

Romance was rare
Maybe I took offense
I’d rather be in boots and jeans
Maybe, go fix a fence

The manly thing to do
No time for foolish play
What purpose would it serve
Feelings weren’t there anyway

Then things changed
I met you
A brand new world
Didn’t know what to do

How was I to know
You would change my life
Then through time
Become my wife

You love to dance
So I learned how
What I didn’t know then
I do know now

That night we walked to the floor
Hand in hand
I have to tell you
I never felt, more a man

Lights low, music soft and slow
You smiled because I was shaking
Then, you came into my arms
My senses awakened

And as we danced
I felt your grace
An elegant flow I never knew
A soft warm glow, lit your face

You layed your head on my shoulder
I felt your hands in mine
As the music played
Our bodies flowed in time

I felt every move you made
Lost in the feeling of romance
We never missed a beat
We just closed our eyes and danced

When you slid your hand behind my neck
The feelings I had, I’ll never forget
When I smelled your scent of nectar sweet
There were feelings I thought would never be

I’ll never forget that night
I felt like a man, felt love and romance
How it feels to close your eyes
Hold the one you love
and
“To Dance”
