Mirror Image in Broken Glass

This is an alternate poem
But not in conflict with the other
Rather it is a distinct and separate entity
As you will soon discover

Any resemblance to poem two is deliberate
And that’s not just an excuse
Let’s say they are two kinds of poetic incense
They live and die within a minute of use

The object of my task is to create a mirror
A record of a few moments of time
Not a perfect image it’s true
But a kind of parallel rhyme

~

Here I alternate my words
In all difference some conflict reigns
We cannot deny we seek to separate
Though in doing so we are at pains

We deliberate on our differences
And excuse our failures in this respect
Perhaps they will incense us
In a minute pang of regret

There the unassailable object lies
And we record all our travails here
Hopelessly trying to perfect the image
While the mirror stays broken I fear
